PLANS EXAMINER The purpose of this position is to preserve safe building conditions by ensuring the quality and integrity of residential and commercial buildings through the review of construction plans and issuance of building permits. This is accomplished by providing information to customers regarding building codes and other development policies; reviewing construction plans and documents; preparing reports; assisting contractors, builders and citizens; providing support to the Building Official; issuing building permits and conducting field inspections. What We're Looking For • Two-year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. • Three years' experience in a municipal building inspection and permitting office, five years' experience in the construction trade industry performing similar functions or a combination thereof. • ICC Plans Examiner Certification, ICC Energy Certification. • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License.
