Job Description

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the technical support, project management supervision, and field support for the commissioning, monitoring, diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and retrofit of transmission and distribution equipment, especially large and specialized service projects generally exceeding $250,000. This position will provide feedback to management on labor and equipment shortages and effective allocation of resource capabilities. This position will be instrumental in the work planning, scheduling, and documentation of Transformer Field Service projects. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical support in monitoring and diagnosing equipment problems for customer and field technicians Analyze test data for equipment Perform equipment failure analysis evaluations Perform technical training for customers and technicians Facilitate technical resolution of specialized problems with product division. Assist marketing/sales in development of the technical work scope for project quotations Provide field support, troubleshooting, and technical direction of personnel Prepare material requisitions for any required project materials/rentals Prepare work order information for crews Schedule and dispatch personnel and equipment for region Conduct exit meetings with crew leaders to review work orders Remain fully proficient in 3 or more of the 5 technical competencies listed below: Transformer Assembly Electrical Testing Controls LTC's Oil Processing Perform Field Service Tech duties as assigned based on business needs. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Mechanically inclined and have basic knowledge of hand tools Basic understanding of operating heavy machinery/equipment. Self-directed, positive attitude, willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions/directions. Advanced computer skills. Understanding of transformer/industry specifications to be able to troubleshoot/analyze data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with a strong focus on attention to detail. Team player with a positive attitude and willing to support other areas of the business when requested. Strong interpersonal skills are required to achieve cooperation, negotiate and reach agreement with customers, suppliers, and internal employees Strong business acumen with ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects concurrently in order to cost effectively meet fixed schedules. Basic understanding of financial concepts EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required Education / Experience High school diploma with 10-15 years' experience in industrial and/or utility power delivery systems; or a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years of utility work experience. Report writing experience Valid Driver's License Knowledge of electric utility systems, especially the design and operation of the associated equipment such as: Transformers & LTC, HV Switchgear, LV Switchgear and Relay & Control Systems. Required Competencies Building Customer Loyalty Initiating Action Plan the labor hour utilization schedule for Service orders Analyze short-term and long-term capacity problems and advise FSM (Field Service Manager) and Operations Manager Analyze planned versus actual utilization and advise FSM/OPS MGR of performance to plan Develop processes, models, and procedures used in this capacity to meet Service objectives. Contributing to Team Success Managing Work Communication ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Key Working Relationships Works with other departments: Components, Sales/Marketing, transformer plants-Goldsboro, Waukesha Communicates with customers and managers who may have inquiries about aspects of the job which entails the exchange of accurate information and quick decisions in these situations. Physical Demands Estimated hours for this position is 60 hours a week Ability to remain in a standing position 90% of the time. Ability to travel 95% of the time to different job sites throughout the region. Travel by vehicle and plane Ability to operate heavy machinery, climb, and work at heights Ability to lift, pull, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
