This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 151 Dillon Road, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. In this position, under general supervision of the Psychiatric Service Chief, you will exercise medical responsibility for area offices of Coastal Empire CMHC; interview, examine, diagnose, and treat a broad range of mental and emotional disorders in concert with a team approach with other mental health professionals by team staffing, case consultation, and medical record review. Participate in area planning and problem-solving related to concerns of the Center regarding psychiatric coverage. Responsibilities for the Psychiatrist include: Provide direct patient care in the form of psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and medication evaluation to patients served by Coastal Empire CMHC, in its clinics and in community facilities as appropriate. Primary responsibilities are clinics as assigned by Psychiatric Service Chief. Serve on call (phone back up) in rotation with other psychiatrists as required. Participate in Center psychiatric staff and medical staff conferences. Review plans for care and treatment of clients. Help improve type/quality of medical records as directed. Provide designated examinations in and consultations to the Probate Court and community agencies in Beaufort County. Prepare case histories, progress reports and other necessary reports deemed appropriate for documentation of services delivered according to Quality Assurance standards. Assist with in-service teaching or community teaching as requested; attend departmental meetings as directed. Minimum and Additional RequirementsLicensed to practice medicine in SC. Completion of required residency in psychiatry and 2 years direct patient care experience. Preferred QualificationsBoard certification in psychiatry is strongly preferred. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Additional CommentsPost hire, employees must: Travel throughout CECMHC's five (5) county catchment area may be required. Provide direct patient care in the form of psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis and treatment for adults. Experience delivering psychiatric care in a community setting. Ability to work well with other professionals in the coordinated staffing, evaluation and treatment of clients. Provide on call service to the center as backup to chief of psychiatric services. Assist in covering for other prescribers on team when on leave.
