Job Title: Training Associate Department: Learning and Development Reports to: Director of Learning and Development Status Full-time; non-Exempt (VISTA)Job Summary: The Training Associate VISTA will play a critical role in building the training capacity of A World Fit For Kids! by developing and enhancing systems that support the professional growth of our program staff. This position will focus on creating sustainable training frameworks to improve onboarding, expand professional development opportunities, and build staff morale and leadership-resulting in higher retention and improved program quality for youth participants. This is a full-time, one-year AmeriCorps VISTA position and is ideal for individuals passionate about education, youth development, and organizational capacity building. You will work under the supervision of the Director of Learning and Development and partner with them plan and execute position responsibilities. About AmeriCorps VISTA: This position is part of the AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) program, a national service initiative designed to alleviate poverty and build capacity in nonprofit organizations. VISTA members serve full-time for one year, focusing on projects that strengthen organizations by expanding access to education, increasing economic opportunity, and improving health outcomes in underserved communities. As a VISTA member, you'll receive a modest living allowance, professional development opportunities, and an end-of-service education award or cash stipend. This role is ideal for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact while gaining experience in nonprofit organizations, training development, and community empowerment. Position Responsibilities: Training Development and Implementation Conduct a comprehensive training needs assessment across staff and management. Develop and implement a 12-month training calendar addressing youth development, behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and sports-based development. Coordinate and support monthly professional development sessions (virtual or in-person). Collect and analyze post-training feedback to evaluate impact and identify areas of improvement. Onboarding Enhancement Review and assess existing onboarding practices and materials. Redesign and launch a standardized onboarding toolkit including checklists, orientation plans, and training schedules. Collaborate with program and site supervisors to align onboarding with job expectations and site-specific protocols. Pilot the onboarding process with new staff cohorts and revise based on feedback. Staff Development and Recognition Survey staff on professional development goals and preferred learning formats. Research and share external training opportunities and internal learning resources. Assist with planning and coordinating an annual staff development retreat or training day. Pilot a staff recognition program to highlight growth, achievement, and dedication. Systems for Monitoring & Evaluation Develop tools to track attendance, participation, and training outcomes. Create and maintain a database/dashboard for training-related metrics and reporting. Conduct quarterly assessments of training effectiveness and provide data-informed recommendations. Prepare reports and present findings to leadership to support ongoing improvement. Required Skills/Qualifications: Experience or interest in youth development, training, adult learning, or organizational development. Experience in education, tutoring, running community programs/ events, student recruitment and staff development is required Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and project management skills. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate across teams. Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other digital platforms. Passionate about creating equitable and impactful programs for underserved communities. Must meet AmeriCorps VISTA eligibility requirements (U.S. citizen or permanent resident, 18 years or older, etc.). High School diploma is required Preferred Experience and Education: BA preferred Experience in education, social work, public administration, nonprofit management, or related field preferred. Experience as a site coordinator in the expanding learning field, working with K-12 grades, is preferred Spanish communication skills are desirable Special Skills: Ideally, we are looking for someone who is energetic, ambitious, goal-oriented and creative, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a talent for building strong and productive relationships across constituencies. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to use a computer. Employees are frequently required to talk, hear, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment: The position will work from our headquarters in Pico-Union, Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 6:00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break and will be eligible for remote work as assigned. Traveling to our school sites during the week will be common.
