Assistant Mechanical Detailer Contract-to-Hire | Phoenix, AZPosition Overview Our client is seeking an Assistant Mechanical Detailer for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Phoenix, AZ. This role supports engineering and design teams by assisting with the preparation of mechanical drawings and design documentation for a wide range of project types. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable working in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment. Key Responsibilities Assist in planning and preparing detailed mechanical drawings using standardized drafting techniques based on rough sketches, engineering notes, and verbal instructions under the direction of an engineer. Collect initial drawings, calculations, and design concepts from engineers and integrate relevant data into complete preliminary design models for review and revision. Apply company, client, and project drafting standards to produce control schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment connection diagrams. Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design accuracy in accordance with company standards and best practices. Support drawing production activities including problem analysis, layout development, detailing, and drafting for projects of varying complexity. Collaborate with designers and drafters from other disciplines to ensure coordinated and consistent design deliverables. Communicate effectively with internal design resources as well as external clients and project personnel. Execute design changes, redlines, and revisions to project drawings. Maintain and improve CAD proficiency while working toward mastery of current CAD systems. Perform other related duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards. Job Requirements Education & Experience (one of the following required): Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with 2+ years of related experience Associate degree with 3+ years of related experience High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of progressive detailing and design experience Technical Skills: Strong understanding of design software including AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design and drafting software Experience using both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings Knowledge & Competencies: Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles, calculations, and design systems Fundamental understanding of engineering theory and practices related to the assigned discipline Working knowledge of related discipline design software to support production tasks Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers in a multi-discipline team environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills Aspen Technical Staffing CELEBRATING 25 YEARS ~2001-2026~ We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
