(MTI) forges new ideas, creating exciting breakthroughs, and providing mobility solutions for combustion engines, transmissions, hybrid applications, fuel cell, battery, ADAS/AD, data intelligence, and embedded systems for all types of vehicles. Our mission is to be the leading engineering consultancy providing excellence and sustainable mobility solutions to North America and the world as a key member of the global AVL network to help improve vehicle safety and reduce emissions.MTI is looking for a motivated engineer to join our Calibration team. Qualified candidates will possess 0-3+ years postgraduate experience in area of expertise.Joining the AVL Mobility team provides engineers with the ability to grow and develop skills across a variety of customer projects. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.Skill Team Roles:The Calibration team provides engine calibration expertise to projects. The specific roles of a Calibration Technologist in this effort include: Performs engine and vehicle calibration and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required. Works on specific phases or aspects of projects such as, preparation of specifications, technical plans, engine testing, vehicle testing, data analysis and validation. Supports/ensures data quality and writes technical project reports. Reviews project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations. Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues. Defines, executes, and supports engine performance and emissions research and development activities. Supports customer meetings. Other duties as required to ensure project success. Qualifications/Skills: Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree preferred 0-3+ years’ experience in area of expertise Technical degree or certification in engine or automotive technology A Calibration Technologist I is expected to have demonstrated abilities in the following areas: Technical Identify, initiate, and support opportunities for technology development, process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and re-use. Familiarity with regulatory and market segment requirements and end-user expectations Supports Calibration Engineers in the following areas: Compression ignition engines Spark-ignited direct injection (NA or turbocharged) Spark-ignited PFI engines Base engine calibration (steady-state and transient) Fuel system development and calibration Turbocharging and EGR system development and calibration Vehicle and/or engine emissions calibration and optimization to meet regulatory standards. Vehicle and/or engine cold start and environmental correction calibration. Vehicle development trip support for hot weather, cold weather and high altitude. Vehicle drivability and feature calibration Torque model and torque path calibration OBDII and diagnostic development and calibration Exhaust after-treatment calibration for diesel DPF, DOC, SCR systems Working experience with some or all of the following tools: Etas INCA ATI Vision Vector CANape, CANalyzer AVL Drive AVL Cameo AVL Concerto Mototron MotoTune/MotoHawk MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint Relational Working effectively with customers and other program staff and team members Accountability for individual and team delivery Active pursuit of personal and departmental improvement Effective communication with all levels of the program team Commercial Efficient on time delivery of program expectations with consistently high feedback. Active involvement in Annual Review and Work Planning Process. Physical Requirements: Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces Bending and Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
