Job Type Full-time Description OBJECTIVE The Human Resources Generalist supports the HR Manager in delivering HR services across the organization. This role provides day-to-day HR operations support across multiple locations, including transactional and administrative functions, employee lifecycle coordination, payroll and timekeeping administration, and entry-level recruiting. The HR Generalist serves as a primary point of contact for employees and supervisors on routine HR matters, supports operational teams, and ensures consistent application of HR policies and procedures in compliance with California labor laws, while contributing to a positive and compliant employee experience. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPayroll & Timekeeping Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely for all hourly employees across assigned locations. Administer timekeeping systems, review punches, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate corrections. Ensure payroll compliance with California wage and hour laws, including overtime, meal/rest periods, and final pay requirements. Respond to employee payroll questions and escalate compliance or exception issues to the HR Manager. Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and reconciliation as needed. HR Operations & Employee Support Recruit for high-volume entry-level and hourly positions, including posting job openings, screening candidates, conducting initial interviews, and coordinating interviews with hiring managers. Assist with recruitment administration for other roles as assigned, including scheduling interviews and preparing offer letters for HR Manager review. Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, orientation, system access coordination, and exit documentation. Maintain and update employee personnel files, HRIS/Paylocity records, and ensure proper documentation, accuracy, and compliance. Track attendance, PTO, and leave requests, ensuring documentation is complete and forwarded for approval. Serve as a first point of contact for employees and supervisors on routine HR questions and operational support needs. Leave Administration & Benefits Support Collect and organize documentation for leaves of absence, accommodations, and time-off requests. Support benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and vendor coordination. Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, leave, and HR policies, escalating complex issues to HR Manager. Compliance Support Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures under HR Manager oversight. Support compliance activities, such as HR audits, reporting, and regulatory postings. Training & Development Support Coordinate and track employee training programs, including safety and compliance training. Maintain training records and provide reporting to HR Manager. HR Systems, Reporting & Administration Maintain HRIS system data accuracy, generate reports, and support analytics as needed. Prepare HR communications, policy acknowledgements, memos, required forms, and documentation for distribution. Support HR Manager in projects, process improvement initiatives, and special assignments as needed. Support the HR Manager with administrative and operational tasks. Perform other duties as required to support business operations. SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and confidentiality Knowledge of California employment laws preferred Ability to handle multiple priorities and work under direction Proficiency with HRIS systems (Paylocity preferred) and Microsoft Office Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred Or a minimum of 3 years of HR experience and/or payroll experience, preferably in HR operations or a generalist capacity Experience in construction, manufacturing, or building materials environment preferred PHYSICAL & WORKING CONDITIONS Office-based with occasional visits to operational sites Standard office physical demands with occasional site exposure Ability to travel between locations as needed BENEFITS Available to all Full-Time employees.
