Position Type: Student Support Services Date Posted: 10/1/2024 Location: Jennings Senior High School Closing Date: 11/08/2024 Life Guard Summary: Supervises and maintains a safe and clean swimming environment. Performs emergency rescues, care, and first aid as needed. Enforces facility policy to ensure a safe pool deck. Requirements • A high school diploma or in the process of obtaining a high school diploma. A current, valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification • Must be age 16 or older. • Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Guards the swimming pool by diligently observing patron behavior, enforcing facility rules, and intervening in dangerous situations to prevent drowning and injury. • Provides routine first-aid. • Provides lifesaving care, perform CPR, operate an AED as needed. • Addresses patron inquires and concerns in a professional manner. • Exercises good interpersonal skills by assisting others to accomplish the work of the organization, even if it outside the scope of regular duties. • Maintains a clean aquatic environment • Cleans and maintains all equipment. • Assists in conducting special events and community activities as needed. • Performs other duties as assigned. Mental and Physical Requirements Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in varying situations including responding to medical emergencies. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, swim, submerge under water. Must be able to see, speak and hear. Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds.
