Senior Software R&D Manager Description - Does the prospect of leading world-class Big Data platform engineering teams to build and operate a cloud big data platform for a Fortune 100 sound exciting? HP Software's Data Platform Engineering organization is looking for an experienced professional to lead data platform foundations and privacy engineering for the pan-HP product telemetry big data and analytics platform (DataOS). In this role, the successful candidate will partner with senior technologist, R&D managers, and platform product managers and users to define, maintain, and execute against the platform foundations and privacy engineering roadmaps. Responsibilities Leads and manages teams of data, software, and DevOps professionals in complex projects to ingest, process, store, access, and visualize data using state of the art cloud technologies and processes Accountable for defining, evolving, and implementing big data and analytics platform roadmap in collaboration with Data Platform Architecture, Program and Product management. Establishes and manages relationship with R&D and business partners to understand and anticipate big data platform and operational needs Develops the services that allow Operations team instantiate, deploy, secure, scale, monitor big data and analytics cloud platform infrastructure. Accountable for the team operations and licensing budget and cloud spend. Partners with privacy office and teams to ensure privacy policies are engineered and implemented as part of the big data platform and processes. Establishes close relationships with big data technology providers, bringing requirements and influencing their roadmaps. Strategically partners with engineering stakeholders to understand needs and priorities, align roadmaps and implements them. Provides guidance, training and mentoring to team members. Knowledge and Skills Experience managing software, data, and Devops engineering teams. Advanced knowledge of data engineering concepts and technologies (i.e., data warehouses/marts, data lakes, data pipelines, workflow orchestration, meta stores) Experience with data engineering tools (e.g., Spark, Databricks, Airflow, SQL, DBT) Strong background in cloud technologies (i.e., AWS services, CI/CD, design, deployment, monitoring, scalability, security) Experience in Privacy engineering technologies development. Expert skills in people and team management, ability to devise operational processes and guide execution while properly allocating the team's resources. Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring. Strong experience in executing business planning and organizational priorities. Experienced in managing teams across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results. Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting. Education and Experience Required Bachelor's degree in relevant area or demonstrated competence. Typically 10+ years of Software and/or Data Engineering experience.
