We are seeking a professional and safety-oriented team player to become the Aquatics Coordinator at the Pleasant Hill YMCA. This is a full-time position, benefited and non-exempt, responsible for assisting with the supervision our aquatics team (lifeguards, swim instructors, and water fitness instructors) and providing exemplary direct aquatic service through our aquatic programs (lifeguarding, teaching group and private lessons, and teaching water aerobics classes). Ideal schedule would be Monday-Thursday + Saturday, but open to other availability. The Pleasant Hill YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of the East Bay, is a fitness facility with 1 outdoor pool with a separate on-deck hot tub. Our site is a community hub where people of all ages and abilities can find group classes, swimming, fitness coaching, new equipment, and more. Our aquatics team provides a safe and friendly environment for lap swimmers, water walkers, open rec swim, water fitness classes, and a thriving swim lesson program for students of all ages. For more information about the Y, visit Responsibilities for this position: Provide direct service (50% of position) through: lifeguarding, swim instructing, and water fitness instructing. Serve as program lead for aquatics in the absence of Aquatics and Sr. Aquatics Directors. Assist the Aquatics Director with scheduling (WhenToWork) and assessment of lifeguards and swim instructors. Assist with developing and leading aquatic staff in-service trainings. Maintain and track pool records (population counts, chemical checks, staff certifications, equipment checks, collision logs, and other records as assigned). Assist with group swim lesson waitlist management. Assist with private lesson management Assist with other admin tasks as assigned. Lead ARC Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid training programs for staff and members. Provide exemplary member service and ensure policies to provide quality and safe programs for all members. Participate and support annual fundraising efforts. Serve as a member of the branch leadership team. Desired Experience/Qualifications:Ability to demonstrate lifeguarding skills Minimum of 2 years of lifeguarding experience Ability to teach swim lessons, as needed (ongoing training provided) Ability to teach water fitness class, as needed (ongoing training provided) Associate degree in related field or equivalent or 2-4 years related experience; or a combination of equivalent education and experience Strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Ability to thrive in a high paced, flexible environment Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community Required Certifications/Education: ARC or YMCA Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED, Standard First Aid.
