Network Engineer II: XGS-PON Overview: Definition: XGS-PON (10 Gigabit Symmetrical Passive Optical Network) delivers symmetrical 10 Gbps speeds to both upstream and downstream. Coexistence: It works alongside existing GPON infrastructure, allowing a smooth transition to higher speeds. Key Players: ADTRAN : Known for its XGS-PON solutions, including the ADTRAN 621X Calix : Offers advanced XGS-PON technology for robust access networks Knowledge of system management: AOE, Mosaic, AXIOS Your Role: Design and Configuration: Multi-functional design ability. Ability to work between multiple platforms. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve network issues. Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH): Implement and maintain XGS-PON networks for residential and business customers. Effective Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills are essential. Work Schedule: Remote work. Provin ability to work from in home environment, self-motivated, ability to be on call. Some night shifts during specific project phases. Remote travel required Technical Expertise: Understand all technical aspects of ADTRAN's products. Explain product features to potential customers during live demonstrations. Technical Expertise: Understand all technical aspects of Calix products. Explain product features to potential customers during live demonstrations. Technical Expertise: Understand all technical aspects of Nokia products. Explain product features to potential customers during live demonstrations. Deep Understanding of Networking Technologies: You'll need a solid foundation in networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching. Apply this knowledge to design and implement network solutions Configuration and Troubleshooting: Configure and troubleshoot network hardware and software components such as routers, switches, firewalls. Protocols and Security: Understand networking protocols like SNMP, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs. Proficiency in managing networking hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto. Effective problem-solving skills for analyzing and resolving complex network issues System Admin/ Serve based technician: System Administration and Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (Debian/Ubuntu, RHEL/CentOS). Ensure systems are up to date with security patches and software updates. Support and Troubleshooting: Provide user support for troubleshooting system issues. Additional Skills and Experience: Familiarity with Windows-based systems. Scripting abilities (Python, Perl). Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, etc
