Job Description

Lake Forest Academy seeks a full-time campus safety officer who will maintain a safe and secure environment for the Lake Forest Academy community by patrolling and monitoring the premises. The campus safety officer is paid on an hourly basis at a pay range between $20.00 - $23.00 per hour. Lake Forest Academy offers a competitive compensation and benefits package for full-time officers, including full medical and dental coverage, a generous 403(b) retirement plan, and other benefits. This position includes 32 hours minimum with four required shifts as listed below. Additional hours may be available as needed and determined on a weekly basis. Friday, 2:00-10:00 PM Saturday, 2:00-10:00 PM Sunday, 2:00-10:00 PM Monday, 2:00-10:00 PM General Responsibilities: Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; permitting entry Foot patrol across the 170 acre campus Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers Controls traffic by directing drivers Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures Maintains environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls Contacts maintenance for repairs Assists community members with general security requests, including access control requests, lockouts, deliveries, house checks Provides assistance to accident victims and handles emergencies. Assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations (fire and evacuations, bomb threats, lockdown drills, etc.) Provide a high quality of service and patrol the premises as it states in the Security Manual. Must be familiar with all locations of all emergency equipment, (fire panels, alarm systems, poll emergency equipment, AED's, etc.) Must familiarize him/herself with the necessary tools of the position, (keys, email, cell phone, 2-way radio) and with phone numbers of all related agencies as prescribed in the Security Manual Other duties as assigned Position Requirements At least 21 years of age High school diploma/GED Valid driver's license Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Excellent surveillance and observation skills Strong customer service skills and experience working with a variety of constituents Ability to exercise good judgment Strong verbal communication skills General computer knowledge, including Microsoft and Google platforms A willingness to collaborate in a team environment Supports and acts in accordance with LFA's mission and values Upholds LFA's standards of professional courtesy, punctuality, discretion and confidentiality Supports departmental goals and colleagues Physical Demands: All uniformed officers maintain a level of physical fitness to perform job related tasks that they may be called upon to do in the performance of their duties. It is the responsibility of the Campus Safety Officer to remain in such physical condition that they can successfully maintain fitness standards to provide emergency and protective services and conduct other physically demanding assignments. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk unassisted, and run, climb stairs, and may lift and/or move 50 pounds or more, such as when moving incapacitated individuals away from dangerous circumstances. Specific vision abilities required by this job include correction to driver's license standards, close vision, distance vision, night vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Campus Safety Officers must possess the ability to hear for safety reasons inherent to the essential functions of the job. Work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes requiring extensive foot, bicycle, or vehicle patrol.
