WOOSTER COMMUNITY HOSPITAL JOB DESCRIPTIONPlant MechanicMAIN FUNCTION: Assists in keeping the plant and associated equipment of the Hospital in good repair. Minor electrical, mechanical, plumbing repairs and maintenance related duties are of prime importance. RESPONSIBLE TO: Director/Manager, Facility/Maintenance MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED. Strong fundamental mechanical ability. Ability to occasionally lift up to 75 pounds. Ability to occasionally work at heights greater than 20 feet. Valid Ohio Driver's License. No written disciplinary action within the last 12 months. PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES: Health Care Facility experience. Strong working knowledge of DNV, CMS, and NFPA requirements. Minimum Type II EPA 608 certification to properly handle refrigerants. Clean driving record. 3-5 years' experience as a plant mechanic or 2 years trade school with training and instruction in the following areas; plumbing, electrical, HVAC, electronics, and general mechanical maintenance. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Employees in this position may be: Exposed to blood, body fluids and/or airborne pathogens and are required to wear personal protective equipment. Exposure to dust, variable temperatures, and long or varied hours (due to emergencies). Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, turn, crouch, and bend as necessary to complete tasks. Subject to Short Term Hours Reduction according to policy. RESPONSIBILITES: Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure. Monitors, tests and maintains plant equipment such as Generators, Air Handlers, Chillers, Cooling Towers, and Boilers. Performs minor electrical installation and repairs as needed. Performs mechanical repairs of equipment. Performs minor plumbing installation and repairs as needed. Performs preventative maintenance to plant and other equipment as required. Maintains departmental equipment and material inventory. Responsible for all house wide and departmental polices/procedures. Ability to respond to all emergency codes. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Appropriate Service Standards. Participates in departmental meetings and training as required. Customer Service Displays positive attitude. Assess customer satisfaction when interacting with customer and use appropriate chain of command for unresolved issues or problems.
