Underwriting Specialist - Ecommerce

Join the SegPay Team as an Underwriting Specialist - Ecommerce and help shape the future of online commerce!SegPay is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join our team as an Underwriting Specialist - Ecommerce. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient onboarding of new ecommerce merchants onto our global payment platform, while adhering to all SegPay policies and regulations.You will play a critical role in protecting SegPay and our merchants from fraud and financial risk. You will conduct thorough due diligence on merchant applications, including website reviews, CDD, AML checks, and PEP/Sanction screening, and provide ongoing monitoring to ensure compliance. You will be comfortable making risk-based decisions independently and working with minimal supervision.This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a proven track record in high-risk ecommerce merchant acquiring and a deep understanding of card scheme regulations. What You'll Do: Conduct risk-based review of merchant applications in line with company acceptance policies and regulationsReview merchant websites for compliance with company and card scheme requirementsConduct CDD and AML checks, PEP/Sanction screening, etc using internal and third-party toolsEnsure merchant files are complete, accurate and up to date Liaise directly with the Account Management team to ensure all necessary merchant information and KYC documentation is collected Ensure merchants are onboarded efficiently Liaising with Acquiring Partners for any queries relating to Merchant Onboarding, Merchant account changes and terminationsConduct ODD review of existing merchantsProvide feedback to continually improve processesReview daily exception reports, identify and investigate any anomalies and escalate findingsAssist team members and other departments by sharing knowledge and expertise of underwriting, risk and onboardingPerform other duties and projects as assigned Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience in ecommerce adult merchant acquiring Understanding of card scheme rules and requirementsKnowledge of CDD and AML regulationsCritical and analytical thinker with strong attention to detailDecision maker using a risk based approachAbility to identify, analyse, escalate, and resolve problems/issuesEfficient time management skills Proactive and goal-oriented self-starterFluent English speaker possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills Capacity to work independently with minimal direction as well as being a strong team playerExcellent computer skillsSQL Server experience (a plus) If you are a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a passion for online commerce, we encourage you to apply!
