Position Type Full-Time Salary: $22 to $27 per hour Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm Location: In-person (Elmhurst, IL) Role Summary We are hiring one experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician for a compounding-forward role with a strong focus on sterile and non-sterile compounding. This position requires someone who is highly detail-oriented, comfortable with pharmacy calculations, and confident working with fine equipment (including scales/balances) and documentation. While the role is primarily compounding-focused, the technician must also be comfortable working with pharmacy software and computers for prescription processing, labeling, and documentation. Candidates with Lifefile experience will be prioritized for interview consideration. Key Responsibilities Follow proprietary formulations to compound commercially unavailable prescriptions into the appropriate dosage form Compound sterile preparations including injectables and ophthalmics, as well as non-sterile preparations including oral liquids, topical agents, and tablets Participate in regular audits and inspections Ensure the compounding lab is cleaned and maintained in accordance with procedures Perform maintenance, calibration, and proper documentation of scales, electronic meters, and related equipment Routinely check for outdated or soon-to-expire chemicals and supplies Complete compounding continuous education responsibilities as assigned Follow all safety training and procedures for handling hazardous substances Understand and be familiar with applicable guidance and standards including cGMP (21 CFR 211), 503B guidance (as applicable), USP , USP , and other documents assigned by leadership Work closely with the Pharmacist in Charge to ensure a quality product is being compounded Monitor inventory levels and report low levels to the supervisor Dispose of chemicals in the proper containers and follow waste procedures Document quality procedures in the appropriate logs Perform continuous QA checks on compounds to support accuracy, consistency, and documentation integrity Prepare samples for testing as required Initiate investigations and document findings for any deviations from standard procedure or product expectations Work closely with pharmacists and internal quality processes to support safe and consistent operations Use pharmacy software for labeling, documentation, and related computer-based workflow tasks (Lifefile experience preferred) Qualifications PTCB Certification (CPhT) AND Illinois Pharmacy Technician license - both active and in good standing Knowledge of USP and USP ; sterile compounding training/experience strongly preferred Understanding of medical terminology and pharmacy calculations (conversions, ratios, concentrations) Ability to work efficiently and consistently in a detail-driven environment Close attention to detail; standards for accuracy and potency must be consistently met Must be capable of working with small, delicate, and expensive equipment required for compounding dosage forms Must be capable of donning and wearing required protective wear as defined by procedure (masks, gloves, lab coats, coveralls, hairnets, safety goggles, shoe covers, etc.) Must know basic principles, theories, laws, policies, and procedures that pertain to compounding operations and disciplined documentation One year of sterile compounding experience is preferred Strong computer skills and comfort working in pharmacy systems for documentation and workflow support ( Lifefile experience prioritized ) Benefits / Perks 401(k) Health insurance Paid time off Employee discount
