Job Title: Lab Technician Job DescriptionThe Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in supporting wastewater treatment operations. This position involves performing routine and specialized laboratory analyses on various samples, including wastewater, influent, effluent, and sludge. The role ensures regulatory compliance, assists in process control decisions, and maintains accurate laboratory records in line with state, federal, and internal standards.Responsibilities Collect, preserve, and analyze wastewater samples from influent, effluent, process streams, and biosolids. Perform routine laboratory tests such as pH, TSS, TDS, BOD, COD, ammonia, nitrate/nitrite, phosphorus, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, chlorine residual, settleability, and microscopic analyses. Calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment. Accurately document test results, calculations, and observations in laboratory logs and databases. Prepare reports and data summaries for regulatory compliance, including NPDES reporting. Ensure compliance with EPA, state, and local environmental regulations and laboratory QA/QC protocols. Maintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and chemical inventory. Assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory sampling events. Coordinate with plant operators and supervisors to support process optimization. Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and biological materials. Essential Skills Associate degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field (equivalent experience may be considered). 1-3 years of laboratory experience in wastewater, water treatment, or environmental testing preferred. Working knowledge of standard wastewater laboratory methods, including Standard Methods and EPA methods. Ability to accurately perform calculations and interpret analytical data. Familiarity with laboratory QA/QC practices and documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems (LIMS) preferred. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications State-issued Wastewater Laboratory Analyst certification. Wastewater Treatment Operator license (any class). OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification. Working hours and shift information will be provided upon hiring.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goose Creek, SC.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
