Job Type Temporary Unionized Position Code Not Applicable Job Description The Temporary Resident Athletic Trainer will provide quality comprehensive care for student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses and assist with injury rehabilitation. Serve as the in-season certified athletic trainer for teams as assigned including practice and game coverage as well as team travel. Team coverage could include: men's and women's lacrosse, men's rowing, football, cheerleading, women's tennis, and track and field. Education and Experience Master's degree in health-related field Certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Licensed athletic trainer in the State of New York (Eligible) 0 -3 plus years of work experience at a Division One institution Certified in Functional Movement Screening (Preferred) Skills and Knowledge BOC Certified Athletic Trainer with 1 plus years of experience CPR Certified Training in Bloodborne pathogens Certified in Functional Movement Screening (Preferred) Soft Tissue Mobilization certification (Preferred) Responsibilities Serve as a certified athletic trainer for teams as assigned. Provide quality comprehensive care for ALL student-athletes through prevention, evaluation, care and treatment of injuries and illnesses and assist with injury rehabilitation. Screening and referral of student-athletes to team physicians when appropriate. Serve as the in-season certified athletic trainer for teams as assigned including practice and game coverage as well as team travel. Traveling nationally and internationally with the team. Team coverage could include: men's and women's lacrosse, men's rowing, football, cheerleading, women's tennis, and track and field. Compile and maintain injury and treatment documentation for the Sports Medicine Department. Assist with the supervision and daily operation of the main athletic training facility and satellite athletic training facilities. Assist with establishing, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring athletic training services to all student-athletes. Communicate with coaches and athletic department staff on various issues, including but not limited to: the Sports Medicine Department policies and procedures, student-athlete status, restrictions and treatment/rehabilitation, appointment compliance, and progress. Assist team physician and staff with the operation of the physician's clinic. Assist with upkeep of the facilities, emergency equipment, and modalities. Communicate with coaches and athletic department staff on various issues, including the Sports Medicine Department policies and procedures, student-athlete status, restrictions and treatment/rehabilitation appointment compliance and progress. Collaborate with other departments - strength and conditioning, academic services, mental health, and equipment room to provide a positive experience for the student athlete.
