CNC Multi-Axis Lathe ProductionLead OperatorHearing Protection LLC (Griffin Armament, Watertown, WI) Hearing Protection LLC, operating as Griffin Armament in Watertown, WI, is seeking an exceptionalCNC Lathe Production Lead Operatorto support and guide our high-performance machining team. We specialize in precision manufacturing for demanding applications and operate at a performance level ranked in the 85th percentile or higher within the industry. Position OverviewThe CNC Lathe Production Lead Operator will serve asbotha top-tier production machinist and a frontline leader on the shop floor. This role requires a minimum of5 years of hands-on experiencewith multi-axis, sub-spindle, single- and twin-turret CNC turning centers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery in operating up to four bar-fed, tool-life and tool-load monitored CNC turning machines simultaneously while also providing leadership, training, and workflow coordination for other operators. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team SupportProvide day-to-day coaching, guidance, and support to CNC lathe operators. Assist with onboarding, training, and competency development for new team members. Communicate production priorities, quality expectations, and safety requirements clearly and effectively. Serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting machine, tooling, or process issues. Promote a positive, disciplined, and team-oriented work environment. Production ResponsibilitiesIndependently operate, monitor, and maintain CNC turning machines in a high-precision production environment. Maintain production at85%+ efficiencywhile holding strict part tolerances. Perform part inspections, document results, and validate quality through accurate use of hand gauges and other precision instruments. Apply and adjust tool offsets to maintain dimensional accuracy and minimize scrap (Manage tooling changes, offsets, work holding, and fixturing for optimal uptime and throughput. Ensure proper use of company protocols for safety, machine operation, and production reporting. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional workspace. Training & SupportOperators joining the team will undergo a structured onboarding process guided by experienced manufacturing professionals. Comprehensive manuals, hands-on demonstrations, and instruction on bar loader operation will be provided. Once fully vetted, operators will be proficient in: Tool life management and tool load monitoring Use of automatic tool setters Efficient multitasking across multiple machines with minimal downtime All machines are state of the art, equipped with modern technology, and maintained at the highest standard of precision and reliability. QualificationsRequired Technical SkillsMinimum5 years of CNC lathe operating experience, including multi-axis turning. Strong understanding of tooling, setup procedures, offsets, part inspection, and process troubleshooting. Proven ability to run multiple machines simultaneously with consistent quality and efficiency. Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for handling small components. Ability to independently diagnose and resolve tolerance, tooling, or process issues. Leadership TraitsClear and confident communicator with the ability to guide and support others.
