This is a 29-hour per week, part-time staff position without benefits. The anticipated hourly pay rate will be commensurate with experience but no less than $18.00 per hour. Reporting to the Facility Manager, this position will perform maintenance and upkeep assignments on college equipment, facilities and grounds, ensuring the safest and highest quality environment for faculty, students, visitors, and staff. Duties include: Grounds maintenance and equipment use (mowing, fertilizing, watering, pruning, planting, mulching, edging) Grounds equipment and hand-tools maintenance (blowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, pole saws, edgers, and hedge trimmers) Routine and preventative heavy machinery maintenance (walk-behind mowers, zero-turn mowers, riding mowers, tractors, fork lifts, golf carts, boom lifts) Physical plan upkeep (plant shop, college spaces, storage areas) Logistics assistance (supply pick-up, deliveries, moving heavy materials, furniture and refuse) Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and masonry maintenance assistance Other duties as assigned. Flexibility and adaptability Ability to effectively interact with people Ability to learn new skills and techniques Ability to follow department and college safety procedures in the performance of duties Current Virginia driver's license with insurable record Ability to acquire and maintain applicator's license Experience working with computers.
