Lead P&ID Designer and Senior Drafter

Sharpe Engineering & Equipment is on the lookout for an experienced Lead P&ID Designer and Senior Drafter to spearhead the creation of high-quality process and piping drawings focused on food & beverage capital projects. As a technical authority in this role, you will be responsible for P&ID development, support drafting standards, and provide mentorship to a dedicated drafting team, ensuring precision, consistency, and compliance with engineering and client specifications. In this role, you will closely collaborate with process, mechanical, and controls engineers, supporting site visits, field verification, and project documentation that embodies Sharpe's commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Create, modify, and maintain AutoCAD P&ID drawings, general arrangements, and fabrication details. Conduct site visits to collect field data and accurately translate existing systems into precise drawings. Work in conjunction with engineering teams to ensure drawings align with functional and operational requirements. Guide and mentor a team of drafters to guarantee accuracy and compliance with CAD standards. Maintain drawing libraries, templates, and ensure the integration of AutoCAD Plant 3D. Engage in project reviews and client meetings to bolster drafting deliverables. Ensure adherence to industry codes, food safety standards, and client specifications. Travel to client sites for field verification and project support (approximately 30% travel required). Requirements What We're Looking For A minimum of 10 years of drafting and P&ID design experience within process industries, preferably food & beverage. Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD P&ID; experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus. A solid understanding of process equipment, piping layouts, valves, and instrumentation. A proven track record of taking precise field measurements and transforming conditions into accurate drawings. Experience in mentoring or supervising junior drafters. Excellent communication and collaborative skills. A valid U.S. driver's license and capacity to obtain a passport if necessary. Why Join Sharpe?
