Job DescriptionJob DescriptionLocation:[Lehi Utah]Department:Finance & AccountingReports To:CFO/Controller, and Two Business OwnersPosition OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned Corporate Accountant with hands-on experience in construction accounting, specifically within a subcontracting environment. This position will manage the company’s financial operations, support project-level cost tracking, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all accounting data. The ideal candidate understands the unique demands of subcontractor accounting — from AIA/Schedule of Values (SOV) billing, retention tracking, cost code management, lien waivers, certificates of insurance, bonds, direct to client and general contractor projects and vendor compliance.Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of corporate and project accounting, including general ledger maintenance, job costing, and financial reporting.Manage the monthly and quarterly closing processes and prepare timely profit and loss statements for both job-level and company-wide performance.Prepare and analyze WIP schedules, monitoring revenue recognition based on contract progress and billing cycles, meeting with production to ensure that all costs of goods sold (COGS) are accrued along with change orders (COs) and possible back-charges.Collaborate with project managers and estimators to track project costs, analyze margins, and reconcile budget-to-actual results. Handle AIA/SOV progress billings, change orders, retention accounting, and subcontractor compliance documentation and QuickBooks Online (QBO) data entry.AR factoring submittals and related accountingAR, APMaintain vendor and subcontractor records, ensuring compliance with insurance, lien waivers, and tax documentation (W-9s, 1099s).Manage payroll processing coordination (prevailing wage, certified payroll if applicable).Prepare intercompany reconciliations as needed.Support the preparation and review of external CPA financial statements (for tax preparation), bonding requests, and bank relationships.Implement and refine internal controls and accounting procedures to improve job cost accuracy and cash management. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with some time/experience in a subcontractor or construction entityProficient in QuickBooks OnlineGood understanding of job cost tracking, AIA/SOV billing, retention, and WIP reporting.Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and construction industry accounting principles.Skilled in Excel for data analysis, cost allocation, and budget vs actual review, trend review for accuracy.Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to collaborate closely with production/sales/operations teams Preferred Skills Experience handling payroll, monthly close, AP, ARUnderstanding of cost accounting and job margin analysis.Previous involvement in process automation a plus.
