Job Description: Perkins Coie is seeking a talented and driven individual to join our team as a Conflicts Advisor. In this key role, you will conduct comprehensive conflicts analysis on new business opportunities and lateral hires while guiding our attorneys on conflicts of interest matters. You will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with ethical standards across various jurisdictions and adherence to firm policies. In compliance with export control laws, applicants must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Conduct in-depth analysis of conflicts of interest regarding new business and lateral hires. Address and resolve arising issues, including drafting waivers and consents while advising on ethical considerations linked to withdrawal and screening. Serve as a trusted legal advisor to firm attorneys on conflicts-of-interest matters. Perform legal research and draft detailed legal memoranda in response to inquiries from the General Counsel, attorneys, management, and various firm committees. Support management in addressing sensitive and confidential matters related to practice management and firm ethics. Provide training on conflicts-related topics. Assess complex factual scenarios and identify potential issues. Draft detailed waivers, consents, engagement letters, and joint representation letters in final format. Negotiate between attorneys to resolve disputes concerning conflicts and waivers. Engage in additional related legal tasks as required. SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED Comprehensive knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct and their application in legal practice. Strong understanding of jurisdictional variances in applying rules and principles in choice-of-law analysis. Able to manage change effectively, making decisions and taking action even with incomplete information. Thorough understanding of various legal areas, adept at identifying the roles of parties in matters, and possessing solid knowledge of business organizations and financing concepts as well as litigation principles and procedures. Excellent legal research and writing capabilities, with the ability to analyze complex data and present information clearly and concisely. Strong critical-thinking abilities and attention to detail; skilled in identifying issues and proposing innovative solutions. Project management skills, including issue detection, effective time management, prioritization, adaptability to rapid changes, and handling multiple deadlines. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to collaborate effectively across the department and with international office personnel. Well-developed professional interpersonal skills; proficient in communicating with individuals at all organizational levels both orally and in writing. Proficiency in MS Office. SPECIFIC SKILLS PREFERRED Familiarity with litigation practices and an understanding of law firm processes. Able to identify procedural issues and establish appropriate relationships. Relevant knowledge of Intapp products and Elite 3E. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE A Juris Doctorate is required, along with a minimum of three years of legal practice experience. Applicants must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of their office and state of residence. Previous experience in clearing firm lateral hires is preferred, including direct interactions with new hires and partners, and cross-departmental cooperation in onboarding. Preferably, candidates will have experience addressing conflicts in international jurisdictions. A robust understanding of professional responsibility rules and demonstrated success under pressure is essential. This position may be filled in various locations. The specified compensation range reflects typical pay; new hires rarely receive offers at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity. Colorado compensation range: $134,380 to $212,460 annually Illinois compensation range: $141,820 to $224,220 annually Washington state compensation range: $141,750 to $224,110 annually Washington, D.C. compensation range: $153,090 to $242,040 annually #LI-Hybrid
