Job DescriptionTITLE: Estimator Comp: $70,000-$80,000 Location: Laotto, Indiana Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for an Estimator direct hire position in Laotto, Indiana. Responsibilities: Partner with Sales Account Managers to prepare accurate estimates and customer quotes. Review and analyze Statements of Work (SOWs) and Requests for Quote (RFQs) in detail. Communicate directly with customers to clarify project scope, requirements, and specifications. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering and Sales to develop cost estimates. Develop project concepts, including sketches or detailed models, to support quoting and feasibility. Utilize historical data and prior project costs to ensure accurate and competitive pricing. Analyze engineering prints, CAD models, and technical documentation to determine labor and material requirements. Prepare quotes for custom automated equipment, jigs, fixtures, workholding, and tooling. Spend approximately 80-90% of time focused on estimating, with 10-20% supporting project management, light design work, or additional operational needs. Operate within a custom job shop environment supporting one-off and low-volume projects across industries such as automotive and consumer products. Required Skills & Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to purchasing, quoting, estimating, and engineering functions. Design experience with jigs, fixtures, workholding, and tooling. Ability to read and interpret engineering prints with a strong understanding of GD&T. Proficiency in 3D design and modeling; SolidWorks preferred. Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical controls. Experience in a job shop or tool shop environment. Strong technical and professional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and customers.
