Salary: Depends on Qualifications Location : Killeen-Central Campus Job Type: Full-Time Salaried Job Number: 202500097 Division: Workforce Career Technology Department: Aviation Science Opening Date: 02/26/2026 Closing Date: 3/4/2026 11:59 PM Central Summary of Position The job is a full-time position working under the supervision of the Department Chair of Aviation and requires considerable specialized aircraft mechanical skills, aptitude, and teaching skills. The individual will coordinate and teach the Military to Civilian Transition Aircraft Mechanic Course. In addition, the individual will coordinate and help develop the Part 147 Aircraft Mechanic (A&P) program. In certain occasions, if available, the individual will assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of college aircraft. Education and Experience High School Diploma or GED required AND have current FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certificate required. Associates Degree in Aircraft Maintenance from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education is preferred Six years of aircraft maintenance experience and two years of teaching experience with Knowledge of FAA FAR Part 147 operations required. Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred. Knowledge Skills and AbilityAbility to read and understand appropriate manuals, schematics and technical information necessary to adequately instruct the required materials. Ability to write technical material used to teach related courses. Ability to interpret governmental regulations and manufacture's technical publications and data and other published data regarding aircraft of various types. Must be able to perform a variety of specialized mechanical and physical jobs in a manner consistent with top quality and efficiency. Must be able to follow verbal and detailed written instructions. Must be able to work independently in the performance of assigned duties with a minimum of supervision. Ability to diagnose, analyze and identify problems in the mechanical operation of aircraft. Must be able to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Essential FunctionsEnsures that the instruction is conducted in accordance with TSA and FAA requirements. Ensures that the program completion standards are in line with the most current Airman Certification Standards (ACS). Assists in determining required teaching material and providing the Aviation Department staff with necessary information for requisition and purchasing process. Assists in storage, maintenance and inventory of teaching material, specialized tools, and ground equipment. Must participate in program recruiting events in or outside campus.
