This position is an unpaid volunteer position.The Academy Board is responsible for: Providing leadership in line with the Academy’s missionGoverning in line with the Charter Contract, bylaws, and articles of incorporationOverseeing Academy financesAdopting policiesEngaging in strategic planningAdvocating for the AcademyAdhering to the Open Meetings ActConducting a self- assessment Individual Board members are expected to: Commit to serving a one to four (1-4) year termKnow the Academy’s mission, vision, and policiesAttend and participate in monthly board meetingsPrepare by reviewing monthly board packets, including financial documentsBe an ambassador for the Academy and attend Academy eventsAttend board development trainingsParticipate in one or more committees The process and requirements necessary to become a Board member vary depending on the Academy’s authorizing body, but may require: Completing an application and a conflict of interest disclosureCompleting a background checkAttending interviews with current board membersTaking an oath of office Visit American Montessori Academy's website
