Job Description

Ensure the reliable operation of plant utility systems, including compressed air, gas supply, water supply, fire sprinkler, and central air conditioning systems. The Utility Technician supports the Utilities Maintenance Manager and ensures all assigned utility systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards. Job Functions and Responsibilities Ensure the normal operation of company compressed air and gas supply equipment. Perform daily inspections of air supply facilities and maintain accurate operational records. Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot sudden or emergency failures of gas supply facilities, documenting all activities. Analyze emergency failures and propose corrective and preventive solutions. Develop and implement monthly maintenance and preventive maintenance (PM) plans based on system operation and inspection results. Prepare and manage spare parts inventories and maintain an updated monthly spare parts reserve plan for gas supply equipment. Support the installation, commissioning, debugging, acceptance, and operator training for new equipment and air hose systems. Monitor and record gas consumption, calculate usage costs, and provide utility cost analysis. Participate in technical improvement and optimization projects for gas supply facilities. Manage and maintain special equipment and pressure vessels in compliance with regulatory requirements. Perform maintenance and management of central air conditioning systems and chilled water systems, including spare parts control. Maintain 5S standards for gas stations and utility spare parts storage areas. Maintain and manage logistics doors and access control systems. Maintain and manage the company pager/communication system. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Languages commonly used in the workplace are English and Mandarin. Ability to read, understand, and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, diagrams, and schedules. Ability to communicate effectively with team members, engineers, leadership, and internal customers. Three (3) or more years of manufacturing experience and/or technical training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Licensed welder required. High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical fundamentals, and utility operations. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals. Familiarity with CMMS systems and digital maintenance documentation. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Regularly required to stand for extended periods. Duties include turning at the waist, reaching, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Ability to pass static strength (grip) requirements. Required visual abilities include: Near vision Far vision Depth perception Color vision Field of vision Noise level is typically moderate. Required PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. Technical Skills & Competencies Preventive and predictive maintenance practices Mechanical troubleshooting and root cause analysis Electrical safety and low-voltage systems Use of precision measuring and diagnostic tools Understanding of utility distribution systems Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement Additional Skills Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple variables. Computer Skills: Familiarity with manufacturing and maintenance software systems. Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs. Ability to install and connect PVC, carbon steel, and galvanized piping. Ability to operate lifts and forklifts. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and CAD software. Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, factory utility design and installation. Completion of training related to machinery, electrical systems, equipment management, HVAC, and safety.
