Compensation and Schedule Touring Driver Pay: Starting pay on tour: $1,800/week, with potential earnings up to $2,500/week as responsibilities increase. Regional freight between tours: average of $1,475/week (mileage-based). Important: All drivers initially start in Averitt's regional division for the first 30 days (mileage-based pay). Touring assignments and salary-based pay begin after approval for transfer. Touring Driver Schedule: Tour Season: March to October with tours running several weeks at a time; limited home time unless routes are near your location. Off-Season: November to February with drivers typically operating regional no-touch freight to ensure steady income. Your Responsibilities Transport staging, lighting, and production equipment for major live events. Assist with loading/unloading and secure equipment using straps and load bars. Safely navigate tight or unconventional venue locations. Primarily drive at night to adhere to strict delivery windows. Key Highlights Expect overnight driving to meet event deadlines. Complete assigned tour or production runs once designated. Routes cover the U.S. and Canada; a passport is required (reimbursed by Averitt if needed). Requirements for CDL-A Touring Driver: Must have at least 30 days of driving experience with Averitt before transitioning into Production and Event operations. Must be 21 years of age or older. Class A CDL with willingness to obtain Hazmat endorsement. Flatbed certification is required (training will be provided). Valid passport for tours in Canada (Averitt reimburses if necessary). 1 year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience within the past 3 years. Entertainment/touring driving experience is preferred but not mandatory. No convictions for reckless driving, DUI, or DWI in the past 5 years. No moving violations resulting in suspension or revocation in the past 5 years. No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years. No preventable DOT recordable accidents in the past 3 years. Essential Functions: Drive commercial vehicles. Open/close trailer doors (force requirement: 46 lbs). Count freight accurately. Complete fuel ticket documentation. Hook/unhook trailers (force requirement: 90 lbs). Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections. Ability to travel extensively; must be able to sit upright for extended periods. Move freight (force requirement: 54 lbs). Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Enter and exit a Commercial Motor Vehicle safely. Enter and exit the trailer rear from ground level.
