Controls Engineer

Job Title: Controls EngineerJob DescriptionA growing engineering team is seeking a Controls and Electrical Engineer to support the design, programming, and integration of custom-built equipment. This role involves working with PLC systems (primarily Rockwell/Allen Bradley), developing control logic, and collaborating with design teams to ensure systems meet project specifications.Responsibilities Design and document PLC-based control and monitoring systems from concept through implementation. Develop electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams. Perform calculations for voltage drop, short circuit, and system coordination. Configure and troubleshoot control systems including relays, VFDs, HMIs, and motor starters. Conduct system testing (FAT/SAT) and support field service teams. Collaborate with engineering and construction teams during procurement and build phases. Assist with project planning, cost estimation, and proposal development. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and internal procedures. Participate in client meetings and provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle. Essential Skills Proficiency in PLC programming. Experience with automation, combustion, boilers, furnaces, and industrial equipment. Expertise in AutoCAD, Siemens PLC, AutoCAD Electrical, and related technologies. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). 10+ years of relevant experience in controls and electrical design. Strong understanding of power distribution systems (120V-480V AC, 4160V, Ethernet, Wi-Fi). Familiarity with Allen-Bradley and GE PLC platforms. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications PE license preferred but not required. Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed.
