The Electric Service Technician, under the immediate supervision of a Department Manager or Crew Leader, is responsible for a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks in the delivery of City services and maintenance of City buildings, roadways, grounds, and equipment. Requirements: Completion of secondary education (high school or GED) and must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License and remain insurable under the City's vehicle insurance policy. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of hire. CDL training is provided at the expense of the city. Essential Functions of the Position The Service Technician shall have the following duties under their direct supervisor: Operation and maintenance of City owned equipment and vehicles; minor electrical work including street light repair, replacement and troubleshooting; traffic cabinet control; mowing; snow and ice removal; dig ditches or trenches; rough and finish carpentry work; minor concrete work; and completion of other related activities associated with the Department of Public Service. Provides support to other Service Department staff with miscellaneous tasks as assigned. Strictly adheres to department safety protocols including the use of a multi meter, insulated gloves, insulated tools and other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE); follows all policies regarding de-energizing, lock out tag out, and other safety related issues. Maintains contact with City personnel/departments, the general public, and various government agencies/officials in order to obtain or disseminate information related to the essential position functions. Maintains required licensures and certification, if any. Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
