Position: Field Auto Appraiser Location: Buffalo, NY; Albany, NY; NM; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Odessa/Midland, TX; Pittsburgh, PA; Atlanta, GA; Philadelphia, PA; Detroit, MI; Chicago, IL; Houston, TX. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Handle field appraisal assignments for corporate fleets and insurance clients, focusing on automobile appraisals. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Schedule same-day appointments, conduct inspections within 24 hours, and write estimates on-site. Write 6 to 10 estimates per day, depending on location. Ensure thorough vehicle tear down for accurate assessments. Determine repair time estimates and labor operations required for repairs. Make sound repair/replacement decisions. Conduct evaluations for pre-existing damages and total loss assessments. Negotiate prices with shop representatives and establish expected completion dates based on client guidelines. Evaluate and review all supplement requests for validity. Communicate effectively with customers about repair estimates and claims processes. Maintain detailed records of vehicle repair cost estimates. Negotiate advanced fees for towing, teardown, and storage for vehicles deemed total losses. Provide exceptional customer service to all parties in the claims process. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the quality assurance team and engage in desk appraisal work when not in the field. QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Licensing: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred (not mandatory). Required licenses as applicable and professional certifications relevant to the line of business are preferred. Must obtain necessary licensing within 60 days of hire if applicable. Experience: Four (4) years of experience in insurance or body shop settings required. Skills & Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of auto appraisals. Understanding of client operations and labor regulations. Excellent oral and written communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer literacy. Analytical and interpretive skills. Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. Effective negotiation abilities and good judgment. Capacity to manage multiple projects and priorities. Ability to thrive in a team-centric environment. Proven success in meeting performance competencies. Experience with CCC One is a plus. Requirements: Must be able to pass state licensing for appraisal within 30 days of hire. Reliable transportation necessary for travel to assigned work locations. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position operates independently, requiring effective management of your local territory and scheduling of your workday. Mental: Ability to think clearly and conceptually, exercising sound judgment, problem-solving, analysis, and discretion; capacity to manage stress and multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Physical: Computer keyboarding and local travel as required. Auditory/Visual: Good hearing, vision, and ability to communicate effectively. Pay Transparency: As mandated by law, Sedgwick offers a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be subject to pay transparency. Starting pay for this position is between $60,000 and $70,000 annually.
