The Emergency Department at Backus Hospital is a dynamic 42-bed unit that treats a wide array of patients in a fast-paced environment. As a Level III Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center, our ED is equipped with the latest technologies, including EPIC EMR, Teleneurology, and wireless medication scanning, among others. We also have a dedicated behavioral health area to ensure patient and staff safety. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Emergency Department, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care in a diverse workplace. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, you will use evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. You will apply your knowledge and skills to create comprehensive care plans that address the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of patients and their families. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred. One (1) year of RN experience and/or successful completion of The William W. Backus Hospital Nurse Residency Program required. BLS certification is required. Ability to obtain and maintain ACLS, TNCC, PALS, and CPI certifications within 90 days of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain moderate sedation administration certification within 9 months of hire. Current, unrestricted License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut, in good standing. Preferred certifications include Certified Emergency Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
