Be a part of shaping the infrastructure for what’s next. As a Staff Engineer on the Prime UI Platform Team, you will develop core systems that underpin every frontend experience for Coinbase Prime. This encompasses shared frontend frameworks and components, performance, reliability, developer tools, and backend-for-frontend APIs that enhance the user experience. Your Responsibilities: Design, build, and take ownership of core UI platform systems utilized across all frontend surfaces. Enhance reliability, performance, and latency at the platform level. Create and refine backend-for-frontend APIs (REST/GraphQL) that support UI surfaces, focusing on scalability, security, and clear abstractions. Lead architectural and technical initiatives to improve real-time data streams (WebSocket/SSE). Collaborate closely with frontend engineers and product teams to identify scaling challenges and convert them into platform solutions. Serve as a technical multiplier: assist teams, review impactful changes, and mentor engineers across frontend and product teams. Boost developer efficiency by refining local development, builds, CI/CD, testing, release pipelines, and observability. What We Look For: 8+ years of experience in software engineering. Proven experience architecting and developing solutions for complex problems with significant impacts. A passion for building an open financial system that connects individuals worldwide. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in companies undergoing rapid growth (e.g., from 10 to hundreds of engineers). Familiarity with blockchains (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.). Experience in transforming a large monolith into microservices. Proficiency in Golang, Ruby, Docker, Sinatra, Rails, Postgres. Experience developing high-reliability or security-focused financial systems.
