Fire Sprinkler Fitter ApprenticeAbout the CompanyProfessional Fire Protection, has been an industry leader for fire protection services in the Virginia, and eastern North Carolina area. We are based in Norfolk and Ashland, VA and have an excellent team of employees who are responsible for the design, installation, service, and inspection of fire alarms, sprinkler systems, kitchen fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, and kitchen hood/duct systems. We have an extensive customer base that we perform recurring inspection and repair services throughout the region. Our company is continually growing through its internal sales and marketing activities, strong reputation, and business acquisitions.About the OpportunityThe Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This entry-level role provides hands-on training under the supervision of licensed fire sprinkler fitters while developing the technical skills required to become a certified professional in the trade.Compensation This is an Hourly position and the pay rate is contingent experience and background. It will be discussed during the interview process.Potential Quarterly BonusesAll hours worked between 6 pm and 5 am, paid at the time and half rate for every day of the week Job Responsibilities Assist with installation of fire sprinkler piping, valves, and related componentsRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specificationsMeasure, cut, thread, and groove pipe using hand and power toolsSupport system testing, inspections, and troubleshootingMaintain clean and safe work areas in accordance with safety standardsLoad, unload, and transport materials and tools to job sitesFollow company policies and job site safety requirementsParticipate in formal apprenticeship training and related classroom instruction Qualifications A current valid driver's license with 3 or less points is required.Three years of licensed driving experience is required.Experience using a variety of hand tools such as channel locks and pipe wrenches.Willing to work varied hours, nights, early morning and weekend shift when needed.Capable and willing to learn and study about the different fire sprinkler systems in order to pass tests and become certified.Must be comfortable working on ladders 6 to 12ft and on lifts.Ability to lift up to 70lbsAbility to work overhead and in unusual or small spaces such as attics and crawl spacesSkills to communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.Skills to write well and be very detailed in your write up on service work.Must be well organized and be able to keep track of service tickets and process all required documents for each service performed.
