Job Description Payroll Manager (13-Week Assignment with Extension Potential) - Onsite | Sarasota, FL Our client is seeking a seasoned Payroll Manager to take the helm of payroll operations during a pivotal systems transition. This is a hands-on, high-impact contract role based onsite in Sarasota, Florida. You'll be responsible for overseeing payroll processing and compliance, with an emphasis on UKG payroll software and multi-state tax expertise. This assignment will play a critical part in stabilizing payroll operations while the organization transitions to a new Workday HR/Payroll system. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week opportunity (Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM), with occasional flexibility required beyond business hours. While weekend work is rare, availability during peak processing periods may be necessary. The work setting is strictly in-office and business casual attire is expected. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end payroll processing using the UKG payroll platform for a multistate workforce. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations. Act as the primary point of contact for payroll during the Workday system implementation, providing continuity and expertise. Prepare and file payroll tax documents, including W-2s and multistate filings. Perform payroll reconciliations and audits to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure data integrity and payroll readiness. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information and manage secure payroll records. Support year-end processes and reporting, including compliance audits and documentation. Job Requirements Qualifications 5+ years of proven experience in payroll management or related financial roles. Deep knowledge of payroll tax regulations, multistate processing, and federal compliance standards. Proficiency in UKG payroll systems is required. Experience with Workday or other HRIS/payroll systems is strongly preferred. Solid track record in preparing audit-ready payroll reports and reconciliations. Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field. Preferred Attributes High level of dependability and ownership, especially during transitional phases. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to partner effectively across departments. Comfort navigating and supporting technology transitions in payroll or HR systems.
