Job Description

Summary: Meta is seeking a skilled and experienced Data Center Construction Manager to join our Engineering & Construction Team. Our data centers form the backbone of our rapidly expanding infrastructure, enabling the delivery of innovative services. Ensuring that we build and operate data centers effectively is crucial for achieving high uptime, capacity availability, and capital efficiency. What You'll Do: Oversee the construction, commissioning, and handover of data centers within a campus. Manage project budgets to keep expenditures in check. Handle cost change processes and negotiate favorable pricing. Maintain project schedules and mitigate risks for reliable delivery dates. Stay updated on market trends to assist the site selection team in forming crucial partnerships. Manage multiple data center construction projects from inception through completion in alignment with Meta's Basis of Design. Coordinate early access dates and manage base build schedule updates with external stakeholders. Assist in developing preliminary construction schedules and high-level cost estimates. Handle warranty and tenant improvement work in active environments as needed. Regularly communicate project status and risks to upper management. Negotiate contracts and purchase orders with vendors and contractors. Proactively identify and mitigate risks to the project through thoughtful planning and collaboration. Develop cost-saving strategies and identify potential project savings. Collaborate closely with general contractors, stakeholders, and vendors on project requirements. Coordinate with cross-functional partners to meet project objectives. Work with procurement to address project needs. Support pre-construction efforts for upcoming projects. Advocate for prefabrication strategies. Assist in developing Capital Project Budgets and construction Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates. Support lease delivery managers with campus-wide contractor and vendor management. Facilitate on-site inspections to ensure a swift, punch-list-free turnover to operations. Assist local data center operations and cross-functional teams as required. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork. Lead initiatives for an industry-leading safety program. Encourage open and constructive 360-degree feedback. Be prepared for approximately 50% travel to headquarters and other Meta sites. Respond to emergencies as necessary. Minimum Qualifications: 10+ years of experience in construction management. Solid understanding of electrical and mechanical systems. Familiarity with industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Experience with capital budget management. Proven negotiation skills and problem-solving capabilities. Familiarity with Primavera P6. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Bluebeam. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or at least 12 years of direct experience in project planning and construction management. Experience in lease/colo market construction and live environment retrofit scopes. Familiarity with reviewing and editing lease agreements and related documents. Experience with connectivity cabling and data center construction. Multi-project experience in large-scale construction or infrastructure projects preferred. Knowledge of Unifier or Procore software. Experience with BIM 360 software. Familiarity with MS Visio and Google Cloud. Building Environment Accreditations such as LEED, SITES, TRUE, or WELL.
