Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest region as a Respiratory Therapist working night shifts on a per diem basis. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care under physician orders, including oxygen and aerosol therapies, advanced airway management, arterial puncture and analysis, ECGs, and mechanical ventilation for adult and geriatric patients. Job Summary You will plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory therapy effectiveness, collaborating closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient-centered care. The position requires adaptability, strong communication, and a commitment to maintaining a positive work environment. Key Responsibilities Deliver compassionate and timely respiratory care, assessing patient needs and administering prescribed therapies. Perform pulmonary function tests and manage mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas equipment. Monitor patient responses, adjust treatment plans, and oversee respiratory therapy aides and technicians. Participate in discharge planning and educate patients and caregivers on home respiratory care and equipment. Contribute to departmental policy development, training programs, and workflow coordination. Education and Experience Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Minimum of two years of acute care respiratory therapy experience. Licenses and Certifications Current unrestricted respiratory care practitioner license in Washington State. National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) required; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six months of hire. Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of respiratory care theories and clinical skills. Ability to assess and tailor treatments for patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations. Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and electronic medical records. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with healthcare teams and patients. Capacity to work independently, prioritize tasks, and demonstrate leadership in clinical settings. Physical Requirements Includes frequent lifting and carrying of equipment up to 35 lbs, standing, walking, bending, and occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Vision, hearing, and speech must be within normal range with or without corrective devices.
