Our kitchen centers on wood-fired cooking and works closely with local farms and fishermen to create thoughtful, seasonal cuisine. We maintain a calm, professional kitchen culture while executing high-volume summer service at a fine-dining standard. The Opportunity We are hiring a Seasonal Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team from May 1 through Labor Day. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced fine-dining Sous Chef seeking a summer position in the Hamptons with housing included. The right candidate brings strong leadership skills, a disciplined approach to service, and the ability to execute consistently in a seasonal, high-volume restaurant environment. Responsibilities As Sous Chef, you will support the Executive Chef and help lead daily kitchen operations, including: Overseeing prep and service in a fine-dining kitchen Supporting wood-fired and seasonal menu execution Maintaining food quality, consistency, and sanitation standards Managing ordering, receiving, and inventory Assisting with food cost control and kitchen profitability Training, supervising, and motivating kitchen staff Supporting scheduling and payroll oversight Leading a team of approximately 5-10 kitchen employees QualificationsRequired Experience 3+ years in high-volume upscale casual or fine-dining kitchens At least 2 years in a Sous Chef or kitchen leadership role Experience with inventory management and food cost control Strong understanding of kitchen operations and profitability Preferred Fine-dining experience Food safety certification Spanish language skills Compensation & Benefits $70,000-$80,000 seasonal salary Paid weekly Free staff housing with utilities included Medical benefits Paid sick days Company dining perks Free on-site parking Schedule & Requirements 5 days per week (May 1 - Labor Day) Occasional 6-day weeks during peak season 10-12 hour shifts English required Must have reliable transportation (Shelter Island is not accessible by public transportation) Authorized to work in the U.S. Why This Role Stands Out This Seasonal Sous Chef position offers competitive summer compensation in the Hamptons with housing included, making it ideal for experienced chefs seeking both financial opportunity and exposure to a respected fine-dining kitchen.
