The Perioperative Services Assistant is responsible for restocking the Operating Room (OR) Suites with routine supplies. This position also assists with transporting patients and moving equipment in the OR as directed by the RN. Assists department with other duties in the OR area to facilitate department operations. Responsibilities: Performs department housekeeping responsibilities as needed. Transports patients between departments as directed by professional staff. Restocks OR Suites, PACU, and Same Day Surgery, daily with routine supplies, including anesthesia supplies. Puts away delivered supplies and keeps OR Supervisor or designee informed of discrepancies on deliveries. Checks OR suite, PACU, Same Day Surgery and anesthesia stock supplies routinely for outdates. Moves equipment within the OR as needed for surgical cases. Places equipment in the appropriate areas in the OR room after cleaning is complete. Assists department as needed with general duties in the OR areas. Assist with ORMIS applications involving data/charging processing. Assist as needed with stocking and selecting surgical cases. Establishes and maintains PAR levels for general and specialty equipment and supplies in conjunction with appropriate nursing personnel and initiates appropriate purchase orders for. Communicates the status of specialty items ordered/received to OR Charge RN/ Nurse Manager and designated others. Orders all surgical supplies i.e., Intra Ocular Lens (IOL). Monitors usage patterns, adjusts PAR levels, accordingly, recommends decreasing PAR levels of slow-moving items. Anticipates and meets requirements for supplies and equipment by medical and nursing personnel in a timely and efficient manner. Assists with scheduled annual inventories of the unit (ex. obtain scrubs, show where supplies are located). Assists Nurse Manager with maintenance and repair of equipment by Biomedical Engineering personnel and assists with the arrangements for outside repair of specialty items not handled by that department. Supplies coverage for CVOR Lead Peri Operative Assistant. Performs other duties as needed. Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: Prior experience with patient care and/or supplies/equipment in a health care setting. Education:A high school diploma or GED is required.
