DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL STUDIES Spalding University invites applications for the position of Academic Dean of the College of Education, Business, and Professional Studies. We seek a dynamic, visionary, and collaborative leader to guide the College in advancing its mission of academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement. Clinical Mental Health Counseling The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is fully accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). CACREP accreditation confirms that the program meets rigorous professional standards and prepares graduates for licensure in many states. Students completing this degree are eligible to sit for the National Counselor Examination (NCE), the certification exam required to become a licensed counselor. POSITION SUMMARY The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, managing academic programs, and fostering innovation across its departments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a steadfast commitment to student success, faculty development, and academic excellence while building strong relationships within the university and with external stakeholders, including school districts, business and industry leaders, and community partners. The Dean plays a pivotal role in enhancing the college's impact and student success by leading initiatives that strengthen career readiness and job placement outcomes. This includes integrating practical skills into the curriculum, expanding internship opportunities, and fostering partnerships with employers. The Dean also actively engages with alumni to build a strong professional network that supports mentorship, recruitment, and philanthropic efforts. Additionally, the Dean convenes a college-level advisory board composed of industry leaders, alumni, and community stakeholders to provide strategic guidance, ensure program relevance, and align the college's goals with evolving market demands. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and vision for academic programs in education, business, and professional studies. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university leadership to enhance curriculum, teaching quality, and student outcomes. Oversee accreditation and program review processes to ensure academic excellence and compliance. Promote faculty scholarship, research, and professional development opportunities. Manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and lead fundraising and grant-seeking efforts. Cultivate partnerships with industry, K-12 school districts, professional organizations, and community stakeholders. Support recruitment, retention, and career readiness efforts to improve student outcomes. Represent the College in university-wide initiatives and to external constituencies. Required Qualifications Earned doctorate in a discipline represented within the College (e.g., Education, Business, Counseling, or a related field). Distinguished academic record meriting appointment at the rank of professor. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive academic leadership experience (e.g., department chair, associate dean, dean). Demonstrated ability to lead with transparency, collaboration, and ethical integrity. Experience in curriculum development, accreditation, and program assessment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working across multiple academic disciplines or in a college with varied professional programs. Proven ability to build and sustain external partnerships with businesses, school systems, and community organizations. Successful track record in grant writing, fundraising, and corporate engagement. Exceptional communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
