Position Title: Visual Media Intern Department: Marketing & Communications Reports To: Associate Creative Director Range: $16.75/hr (non-exempt) Company Description At Ravinia, we believe in the transformative power of shared, live-music moments and their ability to inspire individuals, strengthen communities, and foster a more connected world. Our 36-acre park is home to North America's longest-running outdoor music festival and its most artistically diverse. Over 100 different events, featuring a mix of classical, rock, pop, jazz, R&B, indie, and country performers, make up a typical summer season across our open-air and indoor stages, including the annual residency of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Position Summary: Photo/Video Internship (Summer 2026): The Photo/Video Intern will join Ravinia's Creative Services team within the Marketing/Communications department, supporting the Ravinia vision through compelling visual storytelling. Reporting directly to the Associate Creative Director of Media Production and the Video Production Manager, the intern will provide hands-on support across all phases of video production, including filming, audio recording, editing, and post-production. Interns will gain practical experience using professional cameras, stabilization equipment, and lighting techniques to capture the Ravinia experience. They will collaborate closely with fellow interns and members of the Marketing Communications team throughout the production and editing process, developing a well-rounded understanding of professional photo and video workflows in a real-world creative environment. If applicable, academic credit may be available. The ideal dates for the internship are April 2026 - September 2026, dates can be agreed upon based on academic calendars. Key Responsibilities Video & Photo Production Produce video content to support branding, sales, marketing, and mission based initiatives. Capture b-roll footage and conduct interviews at Ravinia events to create feature stories throughout the season. Provide support for Ravinia's photography needs, including concert and event photography. Assist in capturing footage and photos for Ravinia's mission-based programs, including Reach Teach Play and the Steans Music Institute On-Set & Technical Support Assist with setting up lighting, cameras, and sound for sit-down and formal interviews. Help set up and light formal interview sets. Utilize professional cameras, stabilization equipment, and lighting techniques to capture high-quality content. Post-Production & Editing Edit raw digital video footage into polished, finished content using Adobe Premiere Pro. Support post-production workflows to ensure content meets Ravinia brand and quality standards. Content Collaboration & Creative Development Collaborate with Ravinia's social media team on content creation and visual storytelling. Work with other interns to conceptualize and execute personal projects that strengthen the Ravinia brand. Collaborate closely with members of the Marketing/Communications team throughout production and editing processes. Asset Management & Ravinia Assist with Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, by uploading and tagging photos and videos. Other duties as assigned Knowledge and Skills Required Demonstrated knowledge of professional camera and audio equipment with minimal supervision Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro Outgoing and enthusiastic personality, comfortable approaching the public Developing organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Must be able to work nights and weekends Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Positive attitude, high energy, and a dedication to teamwork Familiarity with Photoshop, Canva, After Effects, and Bridge is a plus Experience with mirrorless cameras and Ronin stabilizers is preferred Education and Experience Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited college, university, or technical program in Film/Video Production, Photography, Media Production, Communications, or a related field. Demonstrated coursework, academic projects, or prior internship experience involving photo and/or video production. Experience operating professional or prosumer camera equipment in an academic, internship, or freelance setting. Success Factors Learn to safely and confidently operate professional photo and video equipment through training, practice, and supervision. Apply creative direction and feedback to produce photo and video content that meets Ravinia's quality and brand standards. Follow established production workflows, including file organization, asset management, and use of the DAM system. Demonstrate reliability and professionalism, including punctuality, preparedness, and consistent follow-through on assignments. Show measurable growth in technical and creative skills over the course of the internship. Collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, live-event environment, communicating clearly with supervisors, team members, and the public. Work Environment Supportive, creative, and hands-on, with an emphasis on learning, mentorship, collaboration, and professional growth. Primarily this role will report on-site at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL, with occasional off-site or remote editing work as assigned. Work hours vary and include nights, weekends, and outdoor events, particularly during the summer concert season. Work takes place in a mix of office settings, performance venues, and outdoor spaces, requiring flexibility, adaptability, and comfort working in a dynamic fast-paced public-facing environment.
