Job Description

The Sustainability Technician is responsible for maintaining the sustainability programs for the plant. Examples include the recycling program, the pallet program, the animal feed program, the trash/waste program. Primary objective is maintaining the collection areas, communicating challenges and opportunities for the programs to leadership, improving the facility’s Zero Waste performance. The Sustainability Technician shall be a good example for other team members with regards to attitude and sustainability. Night Shift Hours: Tuesday through Saturday from 2:00PM - 10:00PM Pay rate: $23.14 plus $1.50 shift premium (for any hours worked after 6pm) The Taste of the Job:Maintain the sustainability programs in the facility:Collect, sort, consolidate and load plant recyclables. Organize, maintain and clean program areas. Communicate with other departments and leadership to improve programs. Support continuous improvement of sustainability programs. Look for opportunities to eliminate waste, increase recycling and expand programs. Select pallets for useability to reduce plant materials costs, waste. Reduce instance of intact pallets being sent to vendor prematurely. Practice and perform according to the established safety practices that are set in place by Nature’s Path Foods by:Abiding by all rules and safety regulations as set forth by Nature Path Foods. Maintaining a safe work environment for the team and making the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager aware of any equipment or personnel safety issues. Taking necessary and proper action when a problem or safety concern arises with equipment, product, materials or personnel. Following all aspects of the Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) program Knowing where the MSDS is located and how to read them. Knowing which safety equipment is needed to perform a specific job task. Knowing what chemicals are used to clean with. Perform additional assigned job duties as needed Path for Success:High school diploma or GED required Ability to pass in-house certification tests for forklift and powered stacker units. Ability to operate facility spotting tractor to move trailers preferred. Basic sanitation skills required. Chemical knowledge preferred. Basic math and computer skills required. Recycling and Waste experience preferred. Computer skills (for email communication and creating signage/training as necessary). Ability to operate Powered Industrial Vehicles and prefer to have experience with the trailer tractor.
