The Manchester-Shortsville CSD (Red Jacket Schools) is seeking candidates for the following position for 2025-2026:Registered Professional Nurse (School) - Anticipated MS/HS Vacancy Start Date: Monday, April 6, 2026 Position Responsibilities Under the general direction of the School Physician and/or District Administration, the Red Jacket Middle/High School Nurse provides comprehensive health services to support student well-being and ensure a safe, healthy school environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Clinical Care and Health Office Management Provide daily coverage of the student health office (Grades 6-12), including triage, assessment, and treatment of illness and injury. Administer first aid and emergency care to students. Administer prescribed medications in accordance with NYS Education Law and district policy, including maintenance of required physician orders and parental consents. Safely store, inventory, and monitor medications, including PRN medications and emergency medications. Develop, implement, and distribute individualized health care plans for students with medical conditions, including but not limited to diabetes, seizure disorders, and life-threatening allergies (EpiPen). Maintain accurate documentation of all health office visits, assessments, treatments, and communications with families. Arrange for emergency transportation of sick or injured students when necessary. Health Records and Compliance Prepare, maintain, and safeguard cumulative student health records in compliance with NYS regulations and FERPA. Assist the School Physician with required physical, vision, and hearing screenings for students. Assist with and support school immunization compliance and report yearly compliance to NYS per required guidelines. Prepare required health reports for school authorities and regulatory agencies. Special Education and Student Support Services Provide required medical documentation and health updates for students with IEPs and 504 Plans. Collaborate with the Committee on Special Education (CSE) regarding classified students and new referrals. Coordinate health-related services for students with disabilities. Communicate health-related attendance concerns in collaboration with administration and staff. Health Education and Staff Training Provide annual staff training on the use of EpiPens and other emergency medical equipment. Maintain current CPR/AED certification and, as appropriate, provide CPR/AED training to staff. Promote health education initiatives for students, families, and staff as appropriate. Athletics and Extracurricular Support Collect and review sports physical documentation in collaboration with the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer. Communicate medical restrictions and clearance updates to athletics and physical education staff. Plan for students' medical needs on field trips, including preparing medications and training chaperones in proper administration procedures. Safety and Environmental Health Monitor and order health office supplies and equipment to ensure adequate inventory and compliance with safety standards. Professional Responsibilities Maintain current NYS licensure and required certifications. Complete New School Nurse training as needed. Adhere to NYS Education Law, district policies, and civil service regulations. Perform related duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of professional licensure. Collaborate with the County Health Department regarding communicable disease reporting and management.
