Salary: $79,746.63 - $119,619.95 Annually Location : Medina, MN Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 25TRNS165LV040 Department: Transportation Project Delivery Division: Trans Construction Opening Date: 10/21/2025 Closing Date: Continuous Description The Project Delivery team in the Transportation department is seeking a licensed Civil Professional Engineer within the Construction division. This position will be responsible for all phases of project delivery, including public involvement, working with city staff and councils, and management of consultant contracts. Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed at the Public Works Facility, 1600 Prairie Drive, Medina, MN 55340 and remote, as job duties require. There is no public transportation to this facility. Work hours are flexible between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. About this position: This is a full-time, benefit earning position. This position is internally classified as a Professional Engineer (Level II) in the Engineer Series job class. In this position you will: Serve as a Construction Project Engineer, leading an internal contract administration team of inspectors/construction surveyors and/or managing consultant contract administration teams on moderately difficult road or bridge construction projects. Perform constructability reviews of preliminary layouts and detail roadway plans for road or bridge projects. Lead and coordinate material project testing, contractor quality installation, project documentation, financial accounting, and construction survey layout to ensure compliance with Federal/State Aid standards, special provisions, environmental documents, contract plans, and MnDOT standard specifications. Coordinate and effectively communicate with internal team members across Hennepin County divisions and departments, external permitting agencies, municipal partners, stakeholder groups, and individual citizens to ensure successful project delivery outcomes. Make presentations and lead discussions at internal and external project-related meetings. Provide engineering leadership and guidance to internal technical staff and consultants. Need to have: Bachelor's degree or higher in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering or other engineering field appropriate to the position and four years or more of engineering experience related to planning, designing, and implementing civil engineering projects using engineering principles and practices. Licensed as a Professional Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Registration or able to obtain a Minnesota license within six months of hire. Negotiating claim resolution with private contractors. Construction administration and project management for various civil engineering projects. Ability to: Administer construction administration contracts with minimal direction. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county, federal, state and municipal staff, public officials and the general public. Coordinate work with county and contract staff for successful project completion. Communicate and present technical and sensitive information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
