This highly recognized children's hospital is seeking a Pediatrics Pharmacist for an exceptional opportunity to elevate medication safety and outcomes across high-acuity pediatric services. Ideal for a pharmacist with PGY-1 residency (required) and PGY-2 Pediatrics or significant pediatric experience (highly preferred), ready to make a meaningful impact from day one. This Joint Commission-accredited, approximately 300-bed teaching children's hospital features shared governance and an established pharmacy residency program. The organization is nationally recognized for excellence across pediatric cardiology and heart surgery, gastroenterology, neurology and neurosurgery, neonatology, and orthopedics. A Pediatrics Pharmacist will thrive in a collaborative, family-centered environment that values quality outcomes and continuous improvement. The role reports to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager/Director of Pharmacy and partners closely with pediatric clinical pharmacy specialists across key service lines. During assigned shifts, the Pediatrics Pharmacist provides functional oversight to pharmacy technicians and interfaces with physicians, advanced practice providers, bedside nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians, case management, and medication safety and antimicrobial stewardship teams to ensure seamless care. Practice spans the Level IV NICU, high-acuity PICU, general pediatrics, emergency services, perioperative areas, and specialty clinics, supported by decentralized coverage and a centralized sterile compounding service. The unit energy is fast-paced, collaborative, and education-forward, with opportunities to work alongside board-certified pediatric pharmacists, exceptional clinicians, and skilled technicians. The Pediatrics Pharmacist schedule is day shift (7:30-4:00 or 8:00-4:30) with every 4th weekend rotation, supporting continuity of care and team cohesion . Key clinical responsibilities include order verification, pharmacokinetic dosing and therapeutic drug monitoring (e.g., vancomycin/aminoglycosides), IV-to-PO conversion, renal/hepatic dose optimization, parenteral nutrition review, antimicrobial stewardship, participation in multidisciplinary rounds, code/rapid response support, and patient/caregiver counseling. Operational scope includes sterile compounding oversight per USP standards, controlled substance stewardship, inventory management, supervision and mentoring of technicians and learners, documentation of clinical interventions, and participation in Medication Use Evaluations and performance improvement projects. The Pediatrics Pharmacist maintains compliance with state and federal regulations and hospital policies, upholds medication safety, and serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents; Texas pharmacist licensure is required, graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy is expected, and sterile products certification is required if compounding.
