General Purpose: This position is crucial for maintaining a secure environment for both customers and associates. As a visible presence at store entrances and exits, you will deter theft and fraud. Your role will include engaging with customers through friendly greetings, ensuring compliance with our package inspection policy, patrolling sales floors to identify theft risks, collaborating with store leadership on loss prevention strategies, and embodying the company's values while protecting the Ross shopping experience. Essential Functions: Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment: Prioritize safety, assist store leadership in creating a secure atmosphere, and ensure a welcoming presence by greeting customers and addressing safety concerns. Building Great Teams & Partnerships: Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers amicably, treating everyone with respect, recognizing associates through company initiatives, and actively participating in meetings and training. Representing the Company Brand: Uphold a professional appearance in line with company dress standards, consistently embodying brand principles. Mitigating Theft & Fraud: Monitor for suspicious activity, collect indicators of theft, communicate effectively with management, and follow company theft response policies. Minimizing Operational Shortage: Enhance awareness of loss prevention processes among staff and ensure adherence to proper checkout procedures. Competencies: Work Process Management Business Acumen Planning and Prioritization Talent Development Collaboration Leading by Example Effective Communication Accountability and Execution Qualifications and Skills: High School diploma or equivalent; AA degree preferred. Retail supervisory experience or relevant training preferred. Loss prevention/security training is an advantage. Active Security Guard License preferred. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong communication skills. Proven ability to build relationships with store teams. Exceptional customer service skills. Effective conflict resolution abilities. Compliance with federal and state laws regarding security roles, including background checks and testing. Physical Requirements/ADA: Consistent attendance and punctuality. Able to spend most working hours standing and moving throughout the store. Capable of lifting objects exceeding 25 lbs. Able to bend, stoop, or crouch regularly. Specific roles may require additional qualifications and skills.
