Our Infrastructure Enablement team is dedicated to constructing standardized, high-performance 'paved roads' that accelerate development, enhance security, and unlock new capabilities across Coinbase. This role is within our Blockchain Infra domain, focusing on our essential blockchain systems. This includes our Global Blockchain Sync (GBS) service, designed for efficient storage and recovery of blockchain state, as well as our Bare Metal Platform tailored for specialized blockchains like Solana. We aim to modernize legacy systems, simplify complexity, and fortify our core infrastructure. Your Responsibilities: Enhance, scale, and maintain the Global Blockchain Sync (GBS) service, ensuring dependable, up-to-date snapshots for various protocols. Develop new standardized Paved Road infrastructure compatible with GCP & AWS. Design, construct, and automate the new Bare Metal Platform for optimal provisioning of high-performance workloads. Collaborate with internal customers (Base, Blockchain teams) and partners (Compute, Security) to deliver secure, self-service infrastructure. What We Look For: A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience with a focus on infrastructure, backend, or SRE. Strong hands-on experience with public cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS and GCP. Deep expertise in container orchestration systems (Kubernetes, GKE, EKS) and container runtimes. Proven track record in building robust backend services and automation (e.g., in Go, Python). Commitment to high standards of quality, a self-starter attitude, and excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in scaling and managing large-scale, mission-critical, stateful infrastructure. Knowledge of high-quality infrastructure-as-code practices and a commitment to fostering them. Exhibition of core values such as clear communication, positive energy, continuous learning, and efficient execution. Flexibility to adapt and navigate in a dynamic environment, particularly the challenges of building a platform from the ground up. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with bare-metal provisioning and automation tools (e.g., MAAS, Tinkerbell, Ansible, Terraform). Experience writing and deploying a Kubernetes operator. Familiarity with high-performance storage solutions (e.g., ZFS). Knowledge of blockchain node operations or state management. This position is identified as Job# P74412. Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual base salary for this position ranges from $186,065 to $218,900 USD, depending on your work location. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility, equity eligibility, and comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
