Senior Telecommunications Technician

Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Telecommunications Technician to lead and execute complex installations, maintenance, and decommissioning of essential telecommunications infrastructure. Work in dynamic environments such as Central Offices and data centers, while taking on leadership roles and mentoring junior technicians. Core Responsibilities Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to Level 1 and 2 technicians, ensuring all installation and decommissioning tasks are performed to the highest standards. Technical Oversight: Oversee operations from site preparation to installation and site restoration, maintaining quality throughout the process. Complex Installations: Lead installations that involve hardware, software, power, and fiber optic cables, ensuring precision in every task. Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct optical, power, and network testing using advanced tools such as OTDR and BER testers, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills. Project Management: Manage logistics, monitor project expenditures, and ensure projects are completed on time. Technical Documentation: Interpret and apply instructions from floor plans, work orders, and installation standards including Telcordia GR-1275. Site Coordination: Act as the Site Team Leader, coordinating effectively with project stakeholders and managing site teams. Key Skills & Knowledge Telcordia GR-1275 Proficiency: Strong command of Telcordia GR-1275 installation standards. Telecommunications Equipment: Experience with DWDM, Cisco, Ciena, and Infinera equipment. Power and Fiber Optics: Thorough understanding of -48V power principles and fiber installation techniques. Tools and Equipment: Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment. Safety: Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and conducting daily Job Safety Analyses (JSA). Professionalism: Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a dedication to achieving excellence. Work Environment Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel frequently and work in diverse environments, including confined spaces and heights. Physical Demands: This role involves physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
