Job Description

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing critical care in a dynamic cardiovascular invasive lab setting. As an Advanced Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering expert patient care during cardiac catheterization procedures and related interventions. General Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) is responsible for direct patient care in the catheterization lab, overseeing all phases of procedures with accountability and precision. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of cardiac cath lab procedures, including hemodynamic monitoring and electrocardiograph interpretation. Serve as the first scrub assistant for adult diagnostic and interventional cases such as PTCA, stent placement, IVUS, Angiojet, cutting balloon, IABP, Rotoblater, and permanent pacemaker or defibrillator insertions. Operate fluoroscopic equipment and assist in diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology (EP) studies, utilizing specialized EP equipment. Apply various radiographic injection techniques and manage hemodynamic recording and procedural documentation equipment. Exhibit strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology. Collaborate effectively within a multifunctional team environment, prioritizing tasks efficiently. Perform sheath removal and achieve hemostasis using manual and device-assisted methods. Education High school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of a formal ARRT, RCIS, or allied health program, or at least one year of practical experience in the health field is necessary. Experience Preferred candidates will have a minimum of two years' experience in an interventional cardiac cath lab. Experience with peripheral vascular angiography and interventions is a plus. Certification and Licenses BLS certification is mandatory. ACLS certification is required. IABP experience within six months of hire is expected. Must hold CCI-RCIS and/or ARRT credentials. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires constant standing and walking, frequent stooping, crouching, and twisting, and occasional kneeling, squatting, and sitting. The ability to wear lead aprons during procedures is essential. Candidates must be capable of supporting, pushing, pulling, or lifting weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds as needed. Working Conditions The work environment may involve exposure to chemical, electrical, mechanical, bio-waste, explosive, radiation hazards, and other stressors such as noise and temperature variations.
