Cheese Department Leader

Job Summary Create an outstanding cheese shopping experience that reflects the passion for food and cheese expertise that defines Murray's Cheese. Collaborate with Deli Merchandising and district teams to develop a lively and interactive cheese retail environment. Lead by example through proactive selling and deep product knowledge to boost sales. Uphold the core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Key Responsibilities Deliver a remarkable Murray's Cheese experience through engaging customer service, product education, effective cross-selling, and merchandising strategies. Build and maintain a knowledgeable and friendly team, ensuring they are fully trained in Murray's operations and products. Communicate and uphold all company policies and operational standards consistently. Ensure adherence to food safety, sanitation, and hazard analysis critical control point procedures. Manage ordering and inventory effectively. Organize and execute weekly in-store promotional events. Work towards store goals for sales growth and improved profitability. Minimize shrink and waste by implementing best practices. Manage labor costs with accurate scheduling. Achieve or exceed budgetary goals for the cheese shop. Supervise and mentor direct reports, providing performance reviews and constructive feedback. Demonstrate ability to thrive in a fast-paced, often high-pressure environment. Handle conflict calmly and cooperatively. Act with integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek help when necessary to resolve customer and business inquiries. Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Management or retail food experience, or a two-year culinary degree. Willingness to taste cheese daily. Supportive of cheese business initiatives. Inspire, motivate, and train staff to succeed in all responsibilities. Excellent communication skills. Ability to multitask effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong eagerness to learn, enthusiasm for products, and openness to innovative approaches. Desired Qualifications Proven track record of dependability and integrity. Prior experience in food handling. Demonstrated supervisory skills.
