Job Summary: The Swimming Safety Officer plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of all members, guests, and staff around the pool area during operational hours, special events, and private functions. This position requires active monitoring of the pool, enforcing safety guidelines, and responding swiftly to emergencies, all while maintaining a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment. Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Aquatics or Fitness Director May report to the Manager of Aquatics in the absence of the Director Day to Day Responsibilities: Engage with members to promote aquatic activities. Enforce safety rules and club policies to maintain pool safety. Monitor and manage swimming pool operating hours. Register members and guests entering the pool area to oversee usage. Strategically position staff to eliminate blind spots for constant supervision. Ensure coverage at all times by taking breaks only when another lifeguard is present. Maintain cleanliness and safety on the pool deck, lounge chairs, and tables. Organize and clean up all pool areas at the start, throughout, and at the end of each shift. Open and secure pool office and facilities at the beginning and end of shifts. Complete designated daily tasks to uphold club standards. Submit financial records promptly to avoid processing delays. Additional Duties: Be flexible and assist colleagues as needed with additional tasks assigned by management. Adhere to all company, club, and departmental policies and procedures. Exhibit professionalism and a commitment to excellence in all interactions. Promote and follow safe working practices while encouraging others to do the same. Engage in personal and professional development, maintaining required certifications. Utilize available resources to address challenges and support club operations. Participate in daily briefings and contribute to team success. About You: Required: ASA or USA swimming certification. Current certification in CPR, first aid, and AED (within last 6 months). Effective communication skills with staff, members, and guests. Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent. At least 6 months of experience coaching swimmers of various ages and skill levels. Physical Requirements: Frequent swimming, sitting, standing, walking, and driving. Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases. Physical activities including squatting, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and bending. Able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. when necessary. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and audibly. Primary Tools/Equipment: Swimming gear such as caps, goggles, and fins. First aid kits and safety signs. Lifeguard essentials including rescue tubes. Timing devices and radios. Work Schedule: Must adhere to attendance requirements as per weekly scheduling. Flexibility to work additional hours to meet job responsibilities. Availability on weekends and holidays as required.
